For regular darshan, a pancha (dhoti) is not mandatory — men may wear formal pants and a shirt, or a kurta. However, for sevas such as Suprabhatam, Thomala, Archana and Kalyanotsavam, a white or silk pancha (dhoti) with an upper cloth (uttareeyam) is strictly mandatory; shirts, T-shirts and pants are not allowed for sevas.

For any TTD seva, women must wear traditional Indian attire — a saree with blouse, a half-saree, or a salwar kameez with dupatta. Western clothing of any kind (jeans, T-shirts, skirts, leggings) is not permitted for sevas. Traditional jewellery is allowed.

For sevas, men must wear a white or silk dhoti (pancha) with an upper cloth (uttareeyam). No shirts, T-shirts or pants are allowed during sevas. For regular darshan only, formal pants with a shirt are acceptable.

Yes, socks are allowed and are actually recommended in Tirumala, as the floors and walking paths can get very hot during the day and cold early in the morning. Footwear (shoes/slippers) is not allowed inside the temple, but socks may be worn throughout.

A sleeveless blouse is best avoided. Tirumala follows a traditional, modest dress code, so women are advised to wear a saree or salwar with a blouse that covers the shoulders and arms. Sleeveless tops and sleeveless blouses are not permitted, especially for sevas.

Infants and toddlers (0–3 years) may wear any comfortable clothing. Children aged 3–12 should follow the adult dress code — traditional dress for sevas and modest casual wear for regular darshan. For girls aged 12 and above, traditional Indian attire such as a half-saree, salwar kameez or churidar (covering shoulders and knees) is expected, the same as for adult women.

Men may wear jeans for regular darshan, but not for sevas. Women are advised not to wear jeans or T-shirts inside the temple at all; traditional attire such as a saree or salwar kameez with dupatta is required.

Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati follows the same traditional dress code as Tirumala — modest, traditional Indian attire. Men can wear dhoti or formal pants with a shirt; women should wear a saree or salwar kameez with dupatta.
