🗓️ Plan Your Tirupati Pilgrimage

Two days and one night suits most pilgrims. Day one is travel, checking in and Tirupati temples such as Padmavathi and Kapila Theertham; day two is the Tirumala darshan and the journey home. One night is enough only if you already hold a timed darshan ticket. If you are travelling with elderly parents or young children, or you want to add Srikalahasti or Kanipakam, plan three days.

It adds up return travel from your city, the room for the nights you choose, darshan tickets, food, local autos and taxis, and a small buffer. Treat it as a planning figure, not a quotation. Travel and food are averages that move with the season; the room and darshan figures are the ones you can actually pin down. Book the room and the darshan slot first, then the rest of the budget follows.

Sarva Darshan is free — you pay nothing, you pay in waiting time instead. Special Entry Darshan is 300 rupees a head and is the option most visitors on a tight schedule book. Sevas are priced separately and are released through the TTD booking window months in advance.

Rooms near Alipiri and Tirupati railway station are the first to go, and on festival weekends they can be gone weeks ahead. Check the festival calendar for your dates before you commit to travel — a plain weekday outside those windows is both cheaper and far quicker at the queue.

TTD rooms at Tirumala are cheapest and closest to the temple, but they are allotted on the day and cannot be relied on. A homestay in Tirupati gives you a confirmed room, a private bathroom and a kitchen, and the drive up the ghat road takes roughly an hour. Most families with a fixed schedule stay in Tirupati and go up for the darshan.
